December 9, 2009 - Green chair, Distillery District

I've been trying to make use of the photos I took while on a week-long photography workshop especially as I have managed to track them all down now (Aperture didn't want to give up some of the photos that it placed in a hidden folder). This quick sketch is from a photo of a chair I took while at the Distillery District, a former Whisky making site now full of shops, restaurants, galleries and studios. During the week it is a bit quiet so taking pictures that sunny Wednesday was a treat. I like to think about that time and the feeling I had at the end of my work at the museum and starting something new with the first week having the treat of being able to take pictures for half a day and play with them on macs half the rest. It was also the real beginning of good weather and since it has rained all day after a snowstorm last night, it's nice to think about that time.

December 8, 2009 - Berlin cafe

I couldn't stop with just one painting/drawing last night so back to the Berlin pictures and for some colour. I loved this little spot outside a cafe in Prenzlauerberg near our apartment. I just think it's so nice that there are cushions and blankets for customers. So civilized and cosy.

Berlin this time - cafe chairs with blankets

So many lovely cafes in Berlin especially in our neighbourhood and so many of them have cosy seats and blankets to keep you warm. This one had brightly coloured blankets. So tempting to stop at all of them for a hot chocolate.

Day 18 and 19 - August 8-9, 2009

Well after the window installation there was a lot of clean-up which led to more clean-up and re-arranging and then I was too tired to do anything else but I did have some ideas waiting. So here they are. Both were inspired by images in Homes and Antiques. The first one is a collection of treen and then another chair. Both were adjusted from their original image.

Day 11 and 12 - August 2, 2009

So I doubled up again as I knew I would with guests over last night. And it is the long weekend but yet again just quick sketches. I don't seem to be able to settle on any one thing and then there are always other chores to do.

I've also been turning some attention onto my etsy site. I'm a bit disheartened with it at the moment and I'm trying to think of ways to get some sales. No luck so far. Maybe when I get my moo cards and can start hawking my wares out in the real world? We'll see. I'm toying with the idea of leaving them in library books and seeing what happens.

So once again a chair. This time inspired by a brown leather one seen in a French magazine. The coffee cup, ditto.

Day 9 and 10 - July 31, 2009

I had to double up on creating this Friday since a little accident on my bike made it difficult to do anything on Thursday night.

So the first image was probably inspired by my garden as I was supposed to be working in the garden on Friday but I was still a little sore for that. Got the mowing done on Saturday instead. Actually catching up on everything today so I will have to double up production again tomorrow.

The second, my favourite subject - a chair. I only have to check out decor8 to get inspired and there was a red chair that did it this time.

Day 6 - July 27, 2009

Another inspiring photograph in Homes and Antiques magazine. Just a quick sketch. I was drawn to the orange ewer and I love chairs (there will probably be more chair images to come).
