November 4, 2009 - Cafe awning

If you cursor down to the bottom of the page you'll see this but here it is again. I thought these three images would work so well together as a triptych. I might even fire up the old printer and print them off.

I took this photo from the top of an old railway line that is now a garden walkway. Such great views from there and such a nice walk. On the walk back you go by artisan studio that are under the walkways' arches so something nice and different to see on the return journey.

I have a watercolour of a Berlin shop all marked up and masked and ready to go but off to see if I can get some freelance work first.

August 30, 2009

Oh Paris again... When will I get back there? I was hoping for October but since nothing has been planned or even looked at lately that looks unlikely. Then there's the whole unemployment thing to worry about... Just have to start selling some pictures and getting my act together.

The gargoyle was spotted around the Palais de Justice and the lamp somewhere on the left bank or Ile de la Cite. Can't remember which.

Yesterday's contribution. Not as prolific as Sunday but I got another one started (had to let the texture application dry and the masking fluid).

As with my photos, I love Parisian street scenes and I took a photo of this common ornament near Pere Lachaise cemetery.

Moving on now to the one I prepared earlier... See it tomorrow.

Day 13 - August 3, 2009

Bit more than a sketch today. I saw a photo in a magazine last night talking about onion sellers in France back in the day and I could already see the photo as a watercolour with some changes. I might even post this one on etsy.

It's a holiday today so I might even attempt another one since I know it will be difficult on Wednesday. I will be out after work with my Japanese teacher. I've been working on that today. I hope she's not disappointed with my progress so far. Such a beautiful looking language. Doubt I will ever use but it is fun learning.

Day 8 - July 29, 2009

So I made it past a week but then disaster (see top left corner). I am never using another spiral bound sketchbook again even if the watercolour paper is made with the energy of windpower. My fault too. I should have cut it out with a knife or at least look for scissors first. If I want to reproduce it I can always "heal" it in photoshop.

Anyway, slightly more than a sketch compared to the last couple of posts. I painted this from a photograph I took of a florist in Paris. Beautiful roses everywhere.

Day 3 - July 24, 2009

Inspired by a photo taken from our apartment on our last trip to Paris in May 2008. Such beautiful views from both front and back windows (the back included a view of the Eiffel tower). You could never get tired of such views.
